At Cumberland Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, we are honored to recognize George as our Resident of the Month. His life story is a testament to unwavering dedication, deep faith, and a loving family bond. George devoted over 45 years to working with the Blakley family, showcasing his strong work ethic and commitment. In 1965, he married Mary “Perkins” Renfro, and together they shared nearly five decades of love and partnership until her passing. Their union brought two children into the world: George Jr., who passed away in 2021, and Elizabeth Brown. George is also the proud grandfather of two granddaughters, Topanga and Tatyana, who bring him immense joy. A devoted member of Maple Street First Baptist Church, George’s faith has been a cornerstone of his life. His church community has been a source of strength and support, reflecting his deep-rooted beliefs and the importance of spiritual connection. Since joining our Cumberland family, George has been a beacon of positivity. His love for sports and his infectious enthusiasm brightens our halls, making him a cherished presence among residents and staff alike. His uplifting spirit reminds us all to find joy in the little things.
George shares a piece of wisdom that has guided him through life’s challenges:
“The rain doesn’t last forever. In the hard times, God is trying to teach you something in life, so enjoy the sun when it’s shining.”
These words resonate deeply within our community, encouraging us to embrace both the trials and triumphs of life with grace and gratitude.
