Meet Our Amazing Resident of the Month, Charlotte! This month, we are thrilled to shine the spotlight on a resident whose kindness, community spirit, and determination inspire us all: Charlotte. A proud native of Somerset, Charlotte graduated from Somerset High School in 1966. Her early career saw her help open Rose’s store, where she worked as a dedicated cashier for four years. When Charlotte decided to move on, the owner, Mr. Holt, begged her to stay, offering the wisdom of time: “The grass isn’t always greener on the other side.” Charlotte found great joy and purpose in her family life. She married her husband, Jason, on October 10, 1975, and they are still happily married today! They raised two children, and when the children reached third grade, Charlotte found her true calling: working as a Special Education Aid at Eubank Elementary School. As she put it, “The joy of taking care of kids brought joy to my life.” Here at Cumberland Nursing and Rehab, Charlotte continues to spread that joy.
She doesn’t believe in strangers and loves to talk and spend time with everyone. When she’s not chatting with residents and staff, you can find her at her favorite activities: a good game of Bingo, tackling puzzles, playing Rook, and having “spa time” with the girls. She also cherishes the moments she spends simply connecting with her friends. While Charlotte humbly stated she doesn’t feel worthy of this honor, she is very appreciative to be named Resident of the Month! Charlotte has big dreams and heartfelt gratitude. Her biggest goal is to walk again so she can return home to stay with her loved ones, and she wants to thank the therapy team for working hard to help her accomplish that. She has endless praise for our staff, stating that she loves all the CNAs and wants them to know they are wonderful. She also wanted to give a special shout-out to the Activities Department, saying Anna has done a wonderful job and always gives her something to do that brings joy to her and the other residents’ days! Charlotte, a true gem in our community!
