Ms. Elva, a cherished member of the Cumberland Nursing and Rehab community, has been selected as the Resident of the Month for her endless love, infectious positivity, and unwavering faith.
Growing up on a farm in the McKinney community, Elva learned the values of hard work and family, which have shaped her into the compassionate and caring individual she is today. After graduating in 1960 and marrying her husband, Elva dedicated her life to caring for children before finding her second family at Cumberland Nursing and Rehab.
Elva’s days are filled with joy as she engages in activities such as playing bingo and checkers, reading her Bible daily, and attending church services led by her beloved pastor, Randy Wiles. Her favorite holiday is Easter, as it symbolizes the resurrection of the Lord, a source of immense joy and hope for Elva.
Known for her warm and welcoming nature, Elva loves everyone she meets and doesn’t know a stranger. Her genuine kindness and care for others have endeared her to both residents and staff alike. She cherishes the moments when country and gospel music fill the halls, bringing comfort and nostalgia to her heart.
As the Resident of the Month, Elva is filled with overwhelming joy and gratitude. She hopes to inspire others with a quote, “Take more time to understand life and God’s word,” a testament to her faith and wisdom.
Elva’s goal of participating in a checkers tournament in the future showcases her competitive spirit and determination. She is grateful for the kindness and care shown by the staff, whom she considers family.
Elva’s infectious smile and warm personality brighten the lives of those around her, and her presence at Cumberland Nursing and Rehab is truly a blessing. Congratulations, Elva, on being named Resident of the Month!
